For new solid hardwood, the estimate should account for the subfloor, board direction, transitions to adjoining rooms and the finishing scope. If new wood will meet existing hardwood, discuss board width, wood species and the existing finish before materials are ordered.
Keeping an existing wood floor may be an option when its condition and remaining wear layer allow it. We review the floor before deciding whether sanding and refinishing or replacement is the appropriate scope. Share photos of worn areas and tell us about any previous refinishing.
The product and existing floor determine the installation approach. Include the manufacturer and product name if selected, and tell us whether the rooms are above a wood subfloor, concrete or existing flooring. Preparation and moisture conditions need review before the installation method is agreed.
Tile projects need a review of the supporting surface, layout and transitions. For stairs, include the number of treads and landings and whether you want refinishing or new treads. Stair work is scoped separately from room square footage.
